Hi, we are Emely and Sheila.

Two cousins with Cape Verdean roots and the founders of MELAN.

We created MELAN from a place of responsibility and pride. A responsibility to bring forward skincare that reflects the depth, richness, and natural rhythm of melanin rich skin. And pride in building formulas that honor our heritage while embracing modern science with intention and clarity.

Our journey began close to home. Growing up, we shared the same skin rituals, the same conversations about what worked and what did not. We learned early that our skin responds to balance, hydration, and gentle care. Yet finding products that truly understood that experience was not always easy.
